Hello fellow dog and craft beer enthusiast! Posted: 08-08-2025

Our names are Courtney and Jeff, and this is our lovable Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ein! Together we are Hops and Dogs!Picture of the family.

When we first got together, being craft beer enthusiasts was pretty easy. Pick a place to go and have a great night on the town. Then one day, after many years of deliberation, we decided to get our first dog, Ein. Shortly after adopting Ein, COVID struck. While everyone was socially distancing and many places were forced to patio seating, living the dog-culture life was pretty easy. Even the most unfriendly dog locations were instantly dog-friendly, as everyone was stuck outside already. But as lockdown restrictions finally started to lift, we began to notice many of our go-to places were no longer dog-friendly.

We quickly learned that having your four-legged friend can be a bit of a hindrance on a night on the town. Sure, we could always leave Ein at home, but we hate the concept of crating Ein for long periods if we could avoid it. We also don't want to leave a dog with family or friends for a few hours so that we can go out for the evening. So we started looking for places we could visit. Thankfully for us, craft breweries, even years before the pandemic, were becoming more family and dog-friendly places to go; we just had not noticed.

For the last few years, we have traveled around trying out new breweries and taprooms, and whenever possible, we take Ein with us. Sadly, not every brewery is the same. Not every brewery is as dog-friendly as the last. Not every brewery has the same experience for both dogs and their owners. So we decided on a long car ride home. How great would it be to have a first-hand review for places that serve great beer, great food, and are dog-friendly?

We wanted to create a place to not only document our adventures but to help inform others of what breweries are out and to see just how dog-friendly they really are. Over the coming months and years, we hope to provide first-hand reviews on new breweries and possibly other places, both the good and the bad. We hope that this information is helpful to others as they plan out their journeys and meet other beer enthusiasts and dog lovers along the way.

So here we are, Welcome to Hops and Dogs!

We currently have a few reviews brewing in the background as we recently completed a small brewery tour with Ein on our vacation this summer. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be releasing reviews of our travels and slowly starting to visit more breweries closer to home. We hope you join us on our journey.

For our first review, we have Hoof Hearted Brewing. A great small brewery located in the Ohio countryside.
